Hello from Amanda!
I cannot thank Amanda enough for being a guest on Bridging Herstory today. Her content is raw and challenging. I am excited for you to hear from this dear soul! I am also grateful as my jet-lagged souls is working a ton behind the scenes on some exciting things that we will be sharing next week in celebration of Bridging Herstory’s first birthday… okay and maybe my 30th too. (YIKES!!) For now, enjoy the words from Amanda’s soul, a fierce woman who offers life coaching, writing and an incredible membership program!
A phrase we preach, but many of us have no idea where to start. How do we live authentic lives when we don’t feel at home in our own skin or we still don’t know what we want to do when we grow up?
We are often observers of our lives instead of active participants. We sit back and pick ourselves apart or make excuses for why we haven’t arrived where we “should” be because it’s easier to look back at what could have been or look ahead towards what we want instead of sitting cozily in the here and now — getting to know ourselves better.
Life is full of distractions. Think about it, in any given day we are pulled in ten different directions, are at the mercy of our endless to-do lists, tormented by social media alerts and answering the constant vibrations of our cell phones.
So, how do you ever find time to discover more about yourself?
I believe the first step is to see your value. You are worthy of being known and the world is worthy of you showing up as a whole and complete version of yourself. You were uniquely created and your gifts are needed.
Secondly, start practicing authenticity through developing habits that honor you.
“Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.” –Brene Brown
The habits you do every day impact your future, so start being more intentional with them and weeding out the ones you no longer wish to grow!
“Our lives change when our habits change.” –Matthew Kelly
The next step is to accept your strengths and weaknesses! There is no way you can be good at everything, yet we all put so much pressure on ourselves to be well-rounded experts. But when you can begin to feel secure despite your weaknesses, you begin to peel back what’s keeping you from living your best, authentic life.
As a certified life coach, I have created a monthly membership called: The Dreamer’s Nest. Each month, members are given resources to further personal development! That way, no matter their circumstances, job, or experiences, they can show up confident and fulfilled as the best versions of themselves.
If you want to take self-discovery a step further, consider diving into a life coaching experience! Do you want more out of life but don’t know where to start? Can you name all the areas you want to change but don’t know the first step forward? Hire a life coach to walk alongside you and offer a perspective and challenges that will move you in the right direction. (More about this next week Erinn reveals some of her recent work behind the scenes with her new website and services!!!)
So next time you’re encouraged to “be real,” you can know what it looks like to be your authentic self because you have invested in learning the intricate, uniquely created parts of YOU!
